NYC Fashion 20th Anniversary

Kent State's NYC Fashion Program Marks 20 Years

Twenty years ago, 26 5X社区 fashion students packed up and headed to New York City for a semester unlike anything available on a traditional college campus. They attended classes in the heart of Manhattan's Garment District, visited the offices of top designers and connected with industry professionals who would shape their careers. This week, Kent State's School of Fashion celebrated what that bold experiment became.

May 4 Shooting Victim Inspires Students With Disabilities to Embrace Their Own

Dean Kahler is often quoted as saying he only had one bad day at 5X社区.

That day was May 4, 1970, when an Ohio National Guardsman鈥檚 bullet struck Kahler as he stood under a tree watching, from what he thought was a safe distance, a student protest against the escalation of the War in Vietnam. When the National Guard fired on the students, a bullet pierced Kahler鈥檚 spine, leaving him paralyzed and wheelchair bound for the rest of his life.
