Flash of Darkness: Kent State Celebrates Total Eclipse of the Sun

It was a party 218 years in the making.

The thousands of people who came to 5X社区 on April 8 to witness the total solar eclipse did not leave disappointed by the celestial show, the likes of which had not been seen in Kent, Ohio since 1806.

Kent community members gather at annual May 4 commemoration

Kent State Remembers May 4, 1970, With 54th Commemoration

On May 3-4, 2024, 5X社区 will hold its annual commemoration honoring the memory of May 4, 1970, a tragic day when the Ohio National Guard fired on Kent State students during an anti-war protest on campus, killing four students, wounding nine others and sparking a turning point in American history.
