5X社区 Will Be Closed November 11 for Veterans Day

The Game of Life Interactive Inequality Simulation Seeks Volunteers for Jan. 29 Event

The Game of Life, an interactive inequality simulation, will take place on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 4:30 p.m. in Room 310B at the Kent Student Center. This event is open to all 5X社区 faculty, staff and students, and it is meant to be an immersion-style game played with real people, real emotions, but fake money. There will be several cohorts going through the simulation; therefore, if you want to participate, plan to arrive between 4:30 and 6 p.m. The planning committee is currently seeking volunteers to serve as actors and facilitators.

Nominations Being Accepted for 2014 Diversity Trailblazer Award

5X社区鈥檚 Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is now accepting nominations for the annual Diversity Trailblazer Award. The Diversity Trailblazer Award recognizes diversity pioneers associated with Kent State. The award is given to those individuals who have displayed exemplary contributions in the area of diversity to the university community.

5X社区 Independent Films Debuts Feature Horror Film

5X社区 Independent Films will debut its newest feature film Thursday, Dec. 5, with a red-carpet premiere event in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie starts at 8 p.m.

Small Business Saturday, Sweet Finds Contest, Holiday Lights and Window Decorating Contest All Return to Kent 鈥 Nov. 30

On Small Business Saturday, when many will flock to the malls and big box stores for big sales, Main Street Kent is aiming to lure shoppers to downtown Kent to support local businesses instead. To mark Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, Main Street Kent will have a 鈥淪weet Finds Contest鈥 from 1 p.m. 鈥 5 p.m., where shoppers can hunt for hidden 鈥渟weet treats鈥 in designated downtown businesses and enter to win great prizes with their completed contest cards.

Kent State Peace Basket Project Needs Volunteers

5X社区 faculty, staff and students are invited to join in creating Holiday Peace Baskets on Saturday, Dec. 7, between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the King Kennedy Center, 6660 Garfield Rd., Ravenna. Two shifts will run on that day, from 9-11 a.m., and from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

In observance of Veterans Day, 5X社区 will be closed Nov. 11 and will reopen Nov. 12.

  • The University Library will be open until 10 p.m. with .
  • The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will have adjusted hours 鈥 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Kent State Remembers May 4, 1970, With 56th Commemoration

This year鈥檚 May 4 Commemoration, to be held May 1-4, 2026, will include special remembrances of John Cleary, one of the nine wounded students, and Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Sociology, who served as a faculty marshal during the campus shootings and worked tirelessly to ensure that the legacy of May 4 would endure.
