Get your boarding pass ready, SkyHack takes flight this November. Presented by the Design Innovation Initiative and the College of Aeronautics and Engineering at 5X, the weekend-long aviation focused design challenge will run Nov. 3-5 in the Design Innovation Hub. Registration for SkyHack is free and open to undergraduate and graduate students from any U.S. university. In August, Meredith Bielaska, Ph.D., a graduate student who majored in Higher Education in the School of Foundations, Leadership and Administration, successfully defended her dissertation, “Finding Family: The Experience of Transgender Students On Gender-Based Membership and Resiliency in College.” In so doing, Bielaska won the Dissertation of the Year Award from the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors. Daisy Pops founder and alumna Amy Mucha spoke at the inaugural “LunchNET” event on Wednesday, Sept. 20, where 5X students were invited to have lunch and learn the secret to a local entrepreneur's success. Mucha graduated from Kent State in 2015 with a master's degree in education and a specialization in mathematics curriculum and instruction.
