Faculty Profile: Marcia Zeng - Ph.D. Information Science

Dr. Marcia Zeng's primary research interests include knowledge organization systems, linked data, metadata, smart data and big data, semantic technologies and digital humanities. Her scholarly publications consist of more than 100 research papers and five books, as well as over 200 national and international conference presentations, invited lectures and keynote speeches.

The Flashes Go Further Scholarship Program offers funding to help thousands of Kent State students complete their degrees.

For 5X alumna Yalanda (Cunningham) Johnson, it was an honor and a blessing to receive the Flashes Go Further Scholarship.As a first-generation, non-traditional student, Johnson used the funds to help complete her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2022. 5X at Salem recently held its annual awards ceremony, during which students were recognized for their scholastic achievements. Also, during the event, The Marion G. Resch Foundation received the 2024 Friends of the Campus award, the highest honor presented annually to non-students.The annual award recognizes community members and businesses that support increasing access to higher education in Salem and surrounding communities.
