Wine and Cheese Reception at the Cohn Jewish Student Center

5XÉçÇø faculty and staff are invited for a wine and cheese reception Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Cohn Jewish Student Center on 613 E. Summit St. The event is hosted by Hillel and Kent State’s Jewish Studies Program. Faculty and staff are encouraged to join colleagues in the Hillel’s Sukkah, an outdoor dwelling built to celebrate Sukkot, the Jewish harvest fall festival.

45th Annual Distinguished Teaching Award

Every year, the 5XÉçÇø Alumni Association recognizes Kent State’s outstanding faculty members by awarding three nominated educators with the Distinguished Teaching Award. To be nominated, faculty members must have been employed at the university for at least seven years and be in a tenure-track position.

Department of Public Safety Will Initiate Fire Evacuation Drills on Sept. 27

On Thursday, Sept. 27 at 11:10 a.m. and at 5:50 p.m., the Department of Public Safety will test the emergency notification system on the Kent Campus. The purpose of this annual exercise is to familiarize students and employees with building evacuations and precautions to be taken in event of a fire or any other type of emergency.

Kent State Remembers May 4, 1970, With 56th Commemoration

This year’s May 4 Commemoration, to be held May 1-4, 2026, will include special remembrances of John Cleary, one of the nine wounded students, and Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Sociology, who served as a faculty marshal during the campus shootings and worked tirelessly to ensure that the legacy of May 4 would endure.
