Monday Night Football has been a staple of Fall American television and pop culture since the 1970s. 

Every Monday night from September 14, 2026-December 7 2026 (except for the week of Thanksgiving), gather in the Rathskeller (lower level of the Kent Student Center) to watch the game. Grill '72 will be cooking up a menu of food items specific to the cities of the teams that are playing. Events start at 7:30 p.m., kickoff for the games is 8:15 p.m. Join us for football, fun, food, and raffles! 

Homecoming is an American tradition that welcomes alumni back to their high schools and colleges. Homecoming can be a week-long or weekend-long event that often centers around a central activity, like a sporting event. At Kent State, Homecoming is celebrated for a weekend in the Fall semester around a home American Football game. The weekend includes other events though, like the Homecoming Parade, Tailgating, and the Kiss on the K. Join the Intercultural Student Life team for Homecoming! Meet us on Risman Plaza to watch the Homecoming Parade and then go over to Dix Stadium together to tailgate and watch the Homecoming football game. Time for 2026 events coming soon. 

Halloween is celebrated on Oct. 31 every year. While this is a holiday celebrated in many countries, in America it is celebrated through things like dressing up in costumes, carving pumpkins into Jack-o-Lanterns, watching scary movies or going to haunted house attractions, and trick-or-treating. Trick-or-treat is a tradition where children dress up in costume and go door-to-door in their neighborhoods to collect candy.

To celebrate Halloween at Kent State, you can dress up and attend Flashes Trick-or-Treat! On Friday, Oct. 30 from 3-5 p.m., you are invited to go office to office collecting candy throughout the lower level, first floor, and second floor of the Kent Student Center and the first floor of the Library. All students and children of students are invited to attend. The first 500 attendees will receive a free event tote bag to collect their candy in! 

Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 3rd Thursday of November every year. It is an American tradition in which families gather for a large dinner and give thanks for what they're grateful for from the last year. The dinner often consists of turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and many other dishes depending on individual family tradition. 

This year, celebrate Friendsgiving (this is a newer tradition, in which friends gather to have their own version of Thanksgiving dinner, often not on actual Thanksgiving day) with Intercultural Student Life. Event details coming soon.
