Professional Development Funding
The College of Aeronautics and Engineering Professional Development Fund supports students' growth beyond the classroom. This funding helps CAE students participate in conferences, earn certifications, purchase professional attire, and engage in other career-advancing activities that build the skills employers value most.
Funding Details
- Up to $500 per student per academic year
- Available each semester on a first-come, first-served basis
- Supports activities beyond regular course or degree requirements
- Open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in CAE
What's Covered
- Eligible Expenses Conference and event registration fees, professional attire, certification exam fees (not tied to academic courses), business cards, and other career development expenses.
- Non-Eligible Expenses Food and social events, fundraising or giveaway items, leisure travel, spirit gear or non-professional apparel, and general club operations unrelated to career development.
How to Apply
before making any purchase. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until semester funds are exhausted.
Payment Options
- Direct Payment – The college pays for your approved expense directly (available to first-time applicants or those who have consistently submitted Impact Statements on time).
- Reimbursement – You pay upfront and submit receipts for reimbursement within 4 weeks. Reimbursements are processed through Financial Aid and will first be applied to any outstanding tuition or fee balances before being released to you.

This fund aligns with the NACE Career Readiness Competencies—essential skill areas that employers consistently value, including communication, teamwork, leadership, professionalism, and critical thinking. Impact Statement Requirement
Within two weeks of completing your funded activity, submit a 250–500 word Impact Statement describing what was funded, how it contributed to your professional growth, which NACE competencies were strengthened, and key outcomes or lessons learned. Failure to submit this statement will make you ineligible for future funding.
