Students recognized Brown, Academic Advisor I in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering, as a supportive advisor who regularly checks in during internships and always provides them with the resources needed.
Students say Brown brings a positive attitude to every interaction, reminding them that even when a class schedule doesn鈥檛 go as planned, there are always alternative options. By offering solutions and guiding students through the next steps, Brown helps ease stress.
鈥淥ne of the reasons this award is so special is that it is student-driven, meaning that nominations for the award come only from students,鈥 Charity Miller, director of University Advising, told Kent State Today. 鈥淓ach year we have had well over 100 nominations, so to me, it is invaluable to share this with advisors and celebrate the work that they do and how they truly impact the lives of students and how it impacts their path to success.鈥
Academic advisors are often the first point of contact for students. Advisors meet with students at Destination Kent State and help them learn about their first semester schedule and how college advising works.
