First-year students arrived Wednesday to a campus buzzing with welcome鈥攑arent cars lined up, moving carts stacked high, and volunteers from Movers and Groovers ready to help families haul everything from clothes and mirrors to shelves and stools.
Golden Experience Begins With Move-In
Beyond move-in week, KSU Kickoff continues to shape the first semester experience. On Friday, the Dean's Welcome at 9:30 a.m. brings new students together by college to meet their deans and build academic pride. Convocation at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center at 10:30 a.m. welcomes students to campus with a pep rally energy.
Later Friday, Flashes 101 classes meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m., followed by Flashes First Friday in downtown Kent, where students explore local shops and services. Late Night at The Library (8 to 11 p.m.) offers free pizza, Handel's ice cream, a live DJ, games, and Esports.
Saturday brings the Flashes Flourish Health and Wellness Fair at Centennial Court, featuring morning yoga and coffee, the grand opening of the newly renovated Well-being and Sensory Space, and free trolley rides to downtown attractions including the Haymaker Farmer's Market and kayaking at Tannery Park. The Fraternity and Sorority Life Festival at Centennial Green lets students meet all 31 of Kent State's Greek chapters, while the RecWellcome Back Party at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center features carnival games, a live DJ, and raffle prizes.
Sunday closes the week with Blastoff at Risman Plaza, where students explore over 200 student organizations and get involved on campus.
