The weather is getting warmer and baseball season is here! Kent State Baseball games are great opportunities to get your child's youth team out to a Division I baseball game, get together for an end of the school year party for your colleagues, or host a birthday party. Rwanda Cultural Café

Join us on Wednesday, March 25 at noon for the second Cultural Café of the semester! This month, we will host two representatives from Rwanda. After an insightful presentation about Rwanda followed by a Q&A session with the representatives, attendees will enjoy a free lunch featuring a selection of dishes from Rwanda. We hope to see you there! 

Judges needed: The Great Kent State Teach Off

The Center for Teaching and Learning is in need of judges for the fun and friendly Great Kent State Teach-Off. Seven instructors will present for 5 minutes or less on what their teaching strategy is, how it works and provide hints on how others can implement it in their classrooms. Please join us as a judge, get some new ideas and support your colleagues. Faculty, staff, and student judges are all welcome. 

Faculty achievement: presentation

University Libraries’ Elizabeth Campion, interim coordinator of Special Collections & Archives and May 4 archivist, delivered a presentation on Kent State’s archives, the shootings of May 4, 1970, and her role as an academic archivist at the 19th Annual Women’s Leadership Symposium. The event was held March 5 at Saint Joseph Academy, an all-girls high school in Cleveland, OH. The students, many of whom are approaching decisions regarding career paths, heard from 26 Saint Joseph alumnae from various professions. Congratulations, Elizabeth!

This free event organized by the Performance Collective focuses on being more intentional with the power you already have while navigating unique professional challenges. Join us March 25 for an evening of connection, insight, and empowerment as participants explore ways to reach new heights in leadership and personal development. 

KSU Retirees Association presentation

The KSU Retirees Association invites all faculty and staff, retired or not, to attend their next presentation on Wednesday, March 11, from 3-5 p.m. in the Kent Free Library. They will host Behind the Scenes of a Sports Broadcast: A Look at the Complexities Involved in a Telecast, by Paul Richey, Youngstown State University. This presentation will describe and show the multi-camera coverage used by televised sportscasts. It also will describe what each crew member does and what roles Paul has had as a member of the broadcast crew as a veteran freelance sports broadcaster.

Kent State rode a dominant first half to defeat Western Michigan 73-66 Thursday night, securing their spot in the Mid-American Conference tournament semifinals.The Golden Flashes (22-10, 11-7 MAC) built a commanding 43-25 halftime lead and withstood a second-half rally from the Broncos (12-20, 9-9 MAC) at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.Marquis Barnett led Kent State with 18 points, while Jalen Sullinger and Cian Medley each contributed 13 points.
