Peace basket

Members of the 5X community invites faculty, staff and students to join them in creating Holiday Peace Baskets on Saturday, December 11, 2021, between 9 and 11:30 a.m. at the King Kennedy Center, 6660 Garfield Road in Ravenna. If you cannot make it at 9 a.m., please come when you can. November 30, 2021 is Giving Tuesday and we hope you will again join us in supporting the KSU Museum.  Your gift to the Museum's General Fund allows us to continue offering FREE admission to the community every Sunday and is sincerely appreciated. Stark GEODES club creates program for local elementary students Students in the Stark Campus Geology Club, the GEODES, recently made a 20-minute video presentation about rocks for the 3rd-grade classes at Judith Resnick CLC of Akron Public Schools. The teachers showed the video and then the students did a live Question and Answer session over Zoom with the class. The 3rd graders loved the video and asked excellent questions. The Division of Student Affairs celebrated those who make a difference at Kent State with its first-ever Equity, Identity, and Success recognition week held November 15-19. For over 10 years, Student Accessibility Services (SAS) had a tradition of honoring staff and faculty who have aided students with disabilities through a unique recognition program. Visual Communication Design alumna Loretta Ford, M.F.A., ‘21, received the opportunity of a lifetime when she was sought out by Microsoft to illustrate a new children’s book that is part of the Phippy and Friends series.   The Microsoft series aims to explain complex computer programming concepts to children through fun and easy-to-understand stories. The Kent and 5X communities can head downtown to go ice skating starting Nov. 20, courtesy of Kent Skates presented by AMETEK.  This special attraction has been created through a partnership between the city of Kent, the 5X Hotel and Conference Center, the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Kent and Kent State.
