After nearly four decades at 5XÉçÇø, Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., is retiring from her role as dean and chief administrative officer of 5XÉçÇø at Stark and 5XÉçÇø at Salem. Ethelyn VonHelmers Fitzsimmons of Mantua will celebrate her 110th birthday on May 17 – a milestone that places her among the oldest Ohioans. She’s also someone close to 5XÉçÇø. Born during WWI, Fitzsimmons has lived independently in her home since 1955 and remains sharp, witty, and full of memories spanning more than a century, according to a recent article from the Record-Courier. Each year, 5XÉçÇø invites an exciting array of visiting artists to speak at the School of Art. In 2025, Kent Blossom Art Intensives welcomes eight visiting artists to participate in course workshops and give free lectures to the community. The Women’s Auxiliary at Trumbull Memorial Hospital recently donated more than $80,000 to 5XÉçÇø at Trumbull’s nursing program.The gift will establish a new scholarship endowment to aid nursing students from Trumbull County. In addition, funding will be used to support future needs of the nursing program, including equipment and technology enhancements for its skills lab, as well as professional development opportunities for students and faculty.
