PTA Philosophical Statement

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program faculty supports the mission of 5X社区, the Regional College, the Ashtabula and East Liverpool Campuses, and the PTA Program. These mission statements form the foundation for our most basic beliefs, concepts, and attitudes regarding the education of future physical therapist assistants to meet the expectations of the physical therapy profession and society in general.

About the PTA Program

Mission Statement

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at 5X社区 prepares graduates to be employed as physical therapist assistants and work under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. Graduates will have the critical thinking skills, knowledge base, technical skills, and behaviors that promote justice, integrity, and altruism consistent with expectations of the physical therapy profession and the communities they serve.

Emily Speck is an environmental health specialist who graduated from Kent State's College of Public Health.

As a 2017 graduate of 5X社区鈥檚 College of Public Health, Emily Speck puts her education and skills to work as a registered environmental health specialist in Portage County, testing stormwater and making sure private water systems are safe. During the COVID-19 pandemic Speck, who works for the Portage County Combined General Health District, and many others in her field throughout the state and across the country, took on added duties related to the crisis.   The shortage of environmental health specialists accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic but had beg...
